Then and Now

Until He came to light our lives with wonder

At love so unguardedly spent,

We were moved by lesser things.

Until He gave us eyes to see our selfishness

Next to His uncompromised Goodness,

We imagined we were good.

Until He spoke the Truth to us

Of our need and His Provision,

We thought we had it all.

But when He came and broke through our baseless

Security with His True Truth,

We saw our nakedness and His Offer

of a God-provided Covering.

Then we knew: He came to give Himself

For our liberation from 'The Lie'

That without Him we were okay.

And now, safe in Him, we are!
